  10. I am now compiling Unreal with encrypted Restart/Die and I:Line
  11. passwords on..

  13. Since 3.1-Silverheart(beta3), you will need to re-crypt all of
  14. your passwords with mkpasswd again! UnrealIRCd now supports
  15. encrypted connections, and uses a new crypt(), sorry about this..

  18. Introduction:
  19.  
  20. UnrealIRCd is an IRC server based on the branch of IRCu called
  21. Dreamforge, formerly used by the DALnet IRC Network. Since
  22. development started on it (around May 1999) many new features
  23. has been added, modified, and many bugs fixed. Unreal runs
  24. both on *nix platforms, Amiga & Windows 95/98/2k/NT. Some
  25. features to mention: Channel Halfops, No-color channel mode,
  26. Strip-colors channel mode, channelmode +q & +a - protect
  27. modes, Oper and Admin only channels, exception bans, Nokicks
  28. mode (channel and user), Flood limiter, Channel links, Host
  29. cloaking, Net* Tech and Co-Admin modes, Whois notifies,
  30. Foreign connects monitor, Oper suspend, G:Lines, T:Lines,
  31. channel restriction (people can only go to these channels if
  32. enabled), Trojan/DCC Deny, RPING/RPONG, Sethost family, Token
  33. in server<->server etc. FDlists/High Traffic Mode, SOCKS check
  34. on connect, Speeded up server synchs, limited WebTV Client
  35. support, /vhost, and many dreamforge optimations. UnrealIRCd
  36. is aimed to be an advanced, not an easy IRCd. If you need
  37. support or need to ask questions you can go on IRC, /server
  38. irc.flirt.org and join channel #UnrealIRCd. Or e-mail at
  39. unreal-support@lists.sourceforge.net to get it :)

  42. Installation:
  43.  
  44. Extract the archive to a place of your choice, make an Unreal:
  45. assign to the Unreal directory. Rename the ircd file you want
  46. to use (hub or leaf) to ircd.
  47.  
  48. Then configure the ircd.conf, template.network and
  49. unrealircd.conf files to suit your needs.
  50.  
  51. Use mkpasswd to create passwords for your O-lines..
  52.  
  53. If you use AmiTCP (NOT Genesis), ignore the following:
  54.  
  55. Make an ETC: assign to a place of your choice, then make a
  56. file called resolv.conf there, and put in it the following
  57. (case sensitive):
  58.  
  59. domain <isp domain name>
  60. nameserver <isp dns server ip>
  61.  
  62. For example:

  64. domain ihug.com.au
  65. nameserver 210.8.138.4
  66.  
  67. You can have as many nameserver entries as you like..

  72. Type in a shell/cli window the following:

  75. Run <>NIL: ircd
